Everything is Perfect

Reading Time — 4 minutes

There’s a saying that ‘everything is perfect’, but is it really? In this inspirational article, Master Sri Avinash explains in simple terms how to take the principle that ‘everything is perfect’ to the next level, beyond theory, and to deeply know it.

Sometimes it really doesn’t feel that life is perfect

It’s true that everything is perfect, but that may not be our experience of it.

For example, somebody might tell you that when you climb to the top of a certain mountain you will feel absolutely amazing, because the view and the feeling on top are just so beautiful. But if you climb to the top of the mountain and then you get a text message from your partner saying they want a divorce, that perfect situation is immediately no longer perfect.

The view from the mountain is the same, it is still perfect, but your experience of it is not perfect anymore.

How to see that everything is perfect

How do we align our perception with that inherent perfection of life? Well, if there is a small cup of black paint and we want to turn that into white paint, what do we do? We mix it with many litres of white paint and then the black paint becomes white.

So if we want to adjust our perspective to match the inherent perfection of life, the best way to do that is to dilute the black paint in us by adding more and more white paint.

In other words, the mind is doubtful, its nature is negativity, it says things at the wrong time and in the wrong place and disturbs people. The mind is fear based. So, keep adding more white paint, keep adding more cups of love and kindness.

Be kind to people, be loving to people, help people when they need help. Keep adding this paint until, when we look inside ourselves, all we see is perfection.

When our perspective is like that, we climb to the top of the mountain and we feel, “Ah! Everything is perfect,” even when we get the text from our partner wanting a divorce. We see the divorce as perfect, because from our perspective we see perfection in everything.

A beautiful example of perfection

I heard one story of a Master giving a talk to a large audience about this. The Master was saying that everything is perfect, and that God does not create anything imperfect. Then, at the back of the audience one person put his hand up and said to the Master, “What about me? How can you say everything is perfect? What about my hunchback? How can that be perfect?”

The Master looked at him and said, “I’ve never seen a more perfect hunchback in my life! You’ve got the perfect hunchback.”

You see, the Master only sees perfection in everything. That person thought he was terribly deformed, but the Master saw only perfection.

A change in perspective

We have to adjust our perspective to match the inherent and natural perfection of life. That requires us to change our perception, our attitude, the way we see things.

It’s not easy—everybody hates performance reviews at work because then we have to change something, but that’s what is required.

When we change our perspective like this, then we see the whole of life as perfect. Everything. Something that is considered ‘good’ is perfect, and something that is considered ‘bad’ is perfect.

In other words, we will not be disturbed in any situation. We will be equally happy in the favourable situations and the unfavourable situations. That’s what it means to see perfection in everything.
